The purpose of this blog is pretty simple. It is meant to empower women and to answer questions that Google could not. Have you ever typed an emotional question on Google, Yahoo, or any search engine and could not find the answer you were looking for? I certainly know I have.
A few years ago, I was in a horrible situation that would quickly repeat over the years. I remember desperately looking for answers as my eyes kept producing tears, yet I could not find a solution to my situation.
My helpless teenage self would type those questions:
- Would I go to hell if I disobeyed my mother?
- Should I let my mom continue beating me to prove a good girl?
- Will my mother ever love me?
- Is forced marriage legal?
- My mom forced me to get engaged to my cousin; how to get out of it?
- Why is my mother constantly insulting me?
As I entered University to pursue a degree in Criminology, I remember my professor, a psychiatrist, would talk about Personality Disorders. He would teach us how to identify traits while interviewing a criminal. Little by little, things started to make sense to me, and I was able to connect the dots with my parent’s behaviour (which we will discuss in a different post).
As I entered adulthood, although equipped with a degree, I could not notice that I had friends who had similar traits to my mother. Interestingly, while facing a criminal, I could identify, but when it involved my circle of friends, I was in denial.
My early 20s to mid-20s self would type:
- Why does my friend contact me when she needs help with paperwork and disappear afterwards?
- Why is my friend nice when she needs something but aloof when she doesn’t need anything?
Little by little, I was introduced to romance and heartbreak. Hence, my questions shifted toward relationships and men.
My naive little bum would type the following questions on search engines:
- Why does he disappear on Friday nights?
- Why did he cheat on me?
- Will I ever be enough for anyone?
As I am typing this page, I am cringing in my seat. I can’t believe these were part of my concerns, and I was that desperate for answers. Don’t get me wrong; search engines provided answers to a few questions but not enough experiential solutions. I wanted to connect with someone who has been through similar situations to know how they overcame them.
What’s the purpose of this blog?
As previously mentioned, the purpose of this blog is to provide answers that search engines couldn’t provide through my darkest times. I am thankful for those experiences, but I wish that I had been able to connect with others and find my virtual mentor.
Hence, this blog will be the tool through which I will share my experiential (and academic knowledge) as an emancipated woman with those of you navigating similar issues. I hope I can answer most of your questions and help you realize you are not alone.
Speaking of hardships, although they can be overwhelming, they actually build us. I am grateful that I went through these situations because they made me become a stronger person.
So what’s the purpose of this blog?
It is to make one feel less lonely and to empower women.
No woman deserves to struggle alone, and we should all be “fixing each other’s crown.”
It is also meant to make women realize that they are in control of their own lives. You, as a woman, get to decide who can enter your life, stay in it, or get fired from it. If people don’t understand your rulings and do not align with how you want to conduct your life, they do not deserve to be in it. POINT BLANK, PERIOD. It can take time to reach that mindset, but it only takes a willingness to filter people and kick disrespectful people to the curb.
No time to waste on horrendous individuals. So, if you want to reach that mentality, this blog is for you.
Take care of yourself and talk to you soon!
